A Note from Allyson
I put this note in my newsletter I sent out today but wanted to also share it here as well.
First of all - THANK YOU! Your enthusiasm for me and my tiny corner of this knitting world is the reason I am not in a full panic as I move forward without Knit 1.
I didn’t choose to have my time with Knit 1 come to an end, and my initial response was to feel like all my hard work, specifically since the start of the pandemic, had been wasted. But I taught 7 classes this weekend and your outpouring of love and support after hearing this news has helped me change my thinking completely.
Hearing so many of you talk about my impact was, very honestly, life changing for me, and I know I will remember this weekend as one of the best of my life.
If you took the time to write me, to speak to me in class, to text or call, please know that the effect you have had on me is immeasurable.
I’ve learned so much from my time at Knit 1 and met so many amazing people that have shaped me into the business owner, teacher, and overall human I am today, and I wouldn’t change that for the world. Let’s be real though - I’m 100% #blessed to not work retail at the holidays! And I’m hoping that I can still work hard independently to do what I love - teach knitting, organize retreats and events, and just be a part of the full insanity that is the yarn industry.
Laura and I have a LOT cooking! Be sure to check out her website at lauramcdougal.com and sign up for her mailing list as well. She wrote a really lovely goodbye to Knit 1 you can read here. Our Grace will still be dying and her independent website will be launching soon - I’ll share that when it’s ready. And this holiday season please support the other yarn stores in Chicago if you can!
