Very V Neck Raglan by Jessie Maed
This is the original sweater image used by Very V Neck Raglan designer Jessie Maed! As you can see, it’s a lot different than the sample I knit myself!
I wish people weren’t so weird to Jessie all the time so she posted more pictures of herself wearing her designs! Love this pic of her in this dreamy pink sweater sample.
So let’s talk about the mods that I made to the pattern, and the mods I will be helping knitters with in my class!
Raised the V Neck
Used compound raglan increases to increase more sts for the body and less for the sleeves to get a smaller sleeve circumference
Increased my raglans faster so I got a shorter raglan depth
Changed the shape of the sleeves! I created baby balloon sleeves instead of keeping them wide
Knit stripes!
LOVE this dreamy purple sweater Polly designed and knit herself! Looks perfect for every day wear! You can see how Polly tapered her sleeves to perfectly fit her arms - such a classic look!
LOVING this action shot from Jodi out with her sheep! I love how Jodi added a longer ribbing to her V neck to fill in the space a bit - just beautiful!
Another perfectly fitting sweater from Laura - here you can see really clearly how well her sleeve fits her arm, and how nicely her raglan works for both her body and arm circumference!
A great WIP shot from Susan! Even on the hanger you can see how lovely her neckline looks, and how she raised her V Neck. Hoping I see this project come back for Sleevetember 2025! It deserves to live!
And last but not least, here is another WIP from Christina - she’s got her sleeves ready to go two at a time! Bonus points!
There are lots of rules when you knit a raglan - which is why they’re so hard to design! We break down how you want your sweater to fit and spend a lot of time calculating how to get there! It’s a math and spreadsheets class, but the content it evergreen so you can apply it to every raglan you knit for the rest of your life! It’s great!
