🧶 Knitting my Feelings!

🧶 Knitting my Feelings!

Well 2 weeks ago my WIP pile looked like this!

AND NOW IT LOOKS LIKE THIS

BUT I’M OK, OK?

I PROMISE!

It is January in Chicago so naturally there would be a lot of being trapped inside because of bad weather happening normally.

All of this is “work knitting” - projects for classes I’m teaching (and taking!) and a KAL I’m hosting.

But goddamn haven’t I just leaned into those excuses, left my phone in the other room, and settled in for a LOT of knitting.

I got my brighter yellow yarn finally and really just knit this entire yoke!

You’ll please note that my overall theme is a chicken grows up from egg, to baby chick, and I just finished a row of teenage dirtbag chickens! And I’m sprinkling in some other things I like too.

Corn!

Apples!

Super normal. I’m all ready to teach neckline finishing in class this week, separate for the sleeves, and keep doodling the body, baby! This project is bringing me a lot of joy!

I mean LOOK AT THIS YOKE!! Is there anything better than a freshly blocked yoke?!

I’m teaching this class right now and you’ll see the construction details - this is a bottom up sweater, but we’ve started with a provisional cast on at the bottom of the yoke to knit the yoke and collar first, then we’ll go back and finish the body and sleeves knit down.

If you’re interested in this bottom up / top down modification, I’m also teaching this construction modification in my upcoming Newbold class!

Also of note - Oraefi is just about the opposite of size inclusive! I’m knitting myself a sweater that started with 80 sts larger than the largest size. EIGHTY!! The absolutely fuck??

Really! You should sign up for one of my classes so I can help you figure all this shit out. It’s great!

Not a lot to see here but I’m taking Laura’s Zipper Sweater Class - I would NEVER knit this sweater on my own, what a fucking snooze, but you know that’s also a great reason to take a class! Keeps you motivated to continue knitting.. checks notes .. 9 fucking inches of half twitted ribbing.

And I’m still doing this! Shout out to Agnes on Instagram who said that the second wing of this thing feels like the second sock, and that’s about right! I got myself to a point where I could talk about it during my live Sophie Hood Knit Along Update last week, but I’ve really stalled out since then. This would be great bar knitting if I could make it to the bar! But she’s almost done and that will feel great to have off my WIP pile!
