Knit a Weekender Sweater With Me This Fall!
I’m bringing back one of my most popular classes, Andrea Mowry’s Weekender!
This is a phenomenal sweater to knit and wear, and a great class to take if you've struggled with sizing modifications. Never knit a sweater before? This class is for you! Knit a ton of sweaters but have had fit issues? This class is for you! Just want to knit a Weekender on a schedule with a group of fun humans? This class is for you!
This 8 week class will take you step by step through Weekender by Andrea Mowry. Please note that the class is paced for the original Weekender pattern, but if you want to give yourself a bigger knitting challenge you can absolutely follow Andrea’s Weekender Light!
We’ll be covering:
Gauge and sizing
Sizing customization for both the body and the sleeves
A full bust adjustment so you can get a better fit in the front and no swinging back!
Knitting in the round and knitting flat - what happens if your gauge changes!
Tubular cast on and bind off
Short rows
Knitting sleeves two at a time
Optional - adding a second shoulder color!
Prerequisite: Students are comfortable with knitting and purling
Materials not included in the cost of your class:
Worsted Weight Yarn: 915 (1015, 1130, 1265, 1385)(1520, 1640, 1790, 1910) yds for 39.5 (44, 48.5, 52, 56.5)(60, 64.5, 68, 72.5)”
Size 7, 8 and 9 knitting needles - 32”+ length - though depending on your gauge you might need a larger variety of needles!
Class Schedule - All classes are 1-2:30pm CT except our yarn planning class on Sept 5:
Tuesday, September 5, 5:30-6:00pm CT: Bonus yarn planning class!*
Sunday Oct 1: Gauge talk!
Sunday Oct 8: Cast on and ribbing
Sunday Oct 15: BREAK WEEK
Sunday Oct 22: Join to work the body
Sun Oct 29 + Nov 5: Break weeks so you have plenty of time to knit your sweater body
Sunday Nov 12: Separate for the sleeves with optional full bust adjustment and adjusted sleeve sizing
Sunday Nov 19: Sort rows and shoulder ribbing set up
Sunday Nov 26: Shoulder join and neckline bind off
Sunday Dec 3: Sleeves two at a time!
Sunday Dec 10: Finishing!
Class fee of $180 doesn’t include materials or the pattern.
