Me Made May Update!
It’s May! Which means it’s Me Made May on the socials - if you aren't familiar, Me Made May is a month dedicated to celebrating your makes in whatever way feels most comfortable for you. We focus so much on planning and making, it's a fun way to focus on how those makes fit into your life.
This month is looking a little differently for me because I’m traveling so much - just last night I got back from a week in Croatia with a long layover in Amsterdam - my outfits are all above!
You can see a LOT of repeats and that is because the weather was a lot different than it was in the forecast when I packed! It rained basically NONSTOP and was 60 degrees. We were outside constantly! So the Ocean Pullover I grabbed last minute was a staple! I also got a ton of wear out of my Heather Blazer. The only real pants I brought were the bottoms to my Saguaro Set so I wore those a ton! I got a some wear out of my Zadie Jumpsuit because they doubled as pants. My white Steele Pinafore worked a bit because the linen is pretty thick and again - layering! And there were a couple dresses I brought that stayed in my suitcase for obvious reasons!
I could have really used another pair of pants and another sweater - and another pair of shoes! My all birds got WRECKED on day 2 because of all the rain so I had to wear my platform crocs every day despite the sometimes 40 degree temps. Thank goodness they’re comfortable!
Before my trip to Croatia I taught at a retreat with the above wardrobe - just a couple cute tops, a pair of All Well Studio Pants I could have REALLY used in Croatia!, my blue Steele Pinafore (Pinafore Sumer I’m TELLING YOU!), and a Felix Pullover for cool nights.
And before that I taught at Camp Workroom Social Wardrobe Week with this wardrobe - more sweaters because I was in the Catskills! Familiar pant game and the Open Studio Shop Pants. The sweaters I brought were my Cozy Classic Raglan and Badger & Bloom!
And there were only 4 other days when I was home this month so far! I got more wear out of my Badger and Bloom, highlighted my BIG PUFFER Uma Coat, and snuck in another wear of my Understated and Poetry Pullover sweaters.
NEW - And a quick Me Made May update! In my last newsletter I recapped my wardrobe for 3 trips I made at the beginning of the month, and here is my little capsule wardrobe for our last spring retreat - our Knitting & Natural Dyeing Retreat this past weekend!
I made everything pictured here except the green skirt that I got in a clothing swap from my lovely friend Julie - it’s a PERFECT skirt and just confirms the adjustment in my thinking from being focused on creating a 100% me made wardrobe to having a 100% loved wardrobe made by me and of previously owned clothes.
This jumpsuit - Friday Pattern Company Avenir - is GREAT! This is it’s first official wear since I made it and it’s great. Also new to my wardrobe is the little striped dress - that’s the Seamwork Benning dress. A pretty perfect dress, too! This dress I carried with me all over Croatia without it getting warm enough to wear so I was so happy to finally get it some sunlight.
